An updated sustainability bond framework has been launched for RCB to provide a transparent account of the process by which the board of RCB reviews each prospective borrower. This ensures that the proceeds of each bond issue are used for their intended purpose and outlines the social and/or environmental impact created.
The RCB strategy is to make it affordable for borrowers to raise relatively small amounts in the capital markets to invest in the growth of their business, thereby enabling them to have a greater positive impact. RCB does this by issuing bonds that are listed on London Stock Exchange and available to both institutional and retail investors, and lending the proceeds on to the borrower.
